How Music has Sparked Confidence for Young People in Warwickshire

Listen now!

We all know music can make a difference which is why a community group in Warwickshire has set out to give young people the opportunity to be in a band. They learn how to play a musical instrument, perform cover songs and even get to write their own. But it’s not just for those with musical ability.

The aim of Spark Youth Music is so much more than a musical journey. The sessions include designing logos, t-shirts, writing lyrics, performing and making new friends. The tutors are selected on their ability to build confidence as well as being able to teach. Their positive influence can help  young people – especially those feeling displaced or unsure of what their future holds.

The group relies on funding and donations and was most recently supported by Warwickshire County Council’s Holiday Activities and Food Fund over the summer. and Food Fund over the summer. Organiser Clare Thomas took us to a band rehearsal to explain more.
